What A Day!

It was 13th December, 2008. I was expecting this day for a few reasons. First, me and my TAGS friends had planned to go to a movie (Vaarnam Aayiram). Secondly, being a second Saturday of the month, we were planning to go to planetarium for a night sky watch using a beautiful GPS connected telescope, which was bought by the planetarium about 2 yrs back. The Night sky watch is allowed at the planetarium only on second Saturdays of every month and on special astronomical days. And finally, the Geminids! Me and my friends Kavin and Hari were planning to go to beach after the planetarium and look for meteors there (Since it is a little away from city lights and free from the light pollution).

The day started as usual, with me getting up at 2 am, switching on my system and switching on the torrents so that I can download certain movies. I was feeling sleepy and hence I decided to sleep with my comp on. I woke up with a start and noticed that the time was almost 8. I have to switch off my torrents within a min as that was when my free downloading ends. I ran into the room and just in time I paused the torrents. Anyways, this is just a prologue. Lolz!

Now, a little flash-back! There was a dog that met with an accident and my friend Shy (Shiamily) took it to Blue Cross. Since the dog wasn’t looking very good, we were scared that the Blue Cross would mercy-kill it. For nearly a week we were trying to take the dog to the vet hospital for a surgery (I felt its better not to mention the dog’s condition here). We now had to find a place to keep it.

Coming back to the present, the day started with this dilemma. After a long thought, we decided to take it to a shelter called PFA. Priyaa called up PFA and confirmed. Here, another dilemma occurred. This particular day, everyone was busy except me. It is highly impossible for me to catch an auto and do all the things with the dog carried in my hands. Somehow Priya got me her friend, Barath, who came to Blue Cross after about 40 mins. He helped me catching an auto and said he would come till PFA.

I got down the auto at PFA only to notice that the doctor and Barath were both missing. I asked a woman about the doctor, she said he had to go for an emergency. The dog was heavy in my arms and so I left it down. It sat right on my shoe and ---- Shit. Sorry, it’s not a phrase but the literal word. Yes! It shit there on my shoe. Then I noticed that it had shit on my pants too. Oh God! The woman gave some water to wash. I then called up Barath; he said he would be there in about 15 mins. I told him I have already reached and thanked him for the help. Within few minutes the doctor came, he took the dog and registered it in my name.

The time now was 1:45. The movie would start in one hour. But there was another problem. I have to go to my shop for atleast half an hour to let my mom go home and have lunch. I was sure to miss the movie. I took another auto and I had almost completed 80% of the journey when I got a call from mom and asked me not to come. The auto had to take a U-turn to go to the cinema hall. Luckily, I reached there right in time. But the auto-man asked me more money since I took a double route. Altogether I had to spend 530 bucks for auto. I was just scared if my pants would smell by any chance. I asked Kavin and he said there wasn’t any smell.

The movie was not bad. Anyways, my dad called me right after the movie and I had to go to the shop. I went straight there, finished the work, took his bike and went to Kavin’s house along with Hari. The time was then 9 pm and so we decided to cancel the planetarium plan. The three of us then went to the beach. But on the way I heard some noise in my bike and suddenly something happened. I then realized that the chain had come out. I looked around for a mechanic. I went through 3 of them – two of them closed and the other one, the mechanic wasn’t there. Finally after pushing the bike for about 15 mins, I found a mechanic who said that I had to go very slow, else, the chain will come out again. Moreover my wallet was empty. So I decided to go back home without even having a look at the beach. I was very sorry for Kavin who had to come all this way for nothing. I had to ride the bike at about 10km/h all the way.

I don’t know why but I just put 500 bucks into my wallet in the morning. If I hadn’t done that I couldn’t imagine what would have happened.

13th December, 2008 is now officially my most expensive day and the worst day of my entire life.

Anyways, there was a happy ending to the story. I spotted 5 meteors after getting back home. Click here to read my happy ending.

it wasn't a bad day after all for you except for the night bike ride... even then u still managed... about me... I managed a nice walk by the time along the beach road by the time u were searching for mechanic... gentle sea breeze was blowing... so no complaints :)... and honestly, I am amazed by how things turned out according to plan perfectly that day!!! I guess I can write a post on it...

only perfect thing that happened to me is i reached satyam on time.. nothing else.. didnt get a glimps of planetarium nor the beach which added to my frustration...

One thing i forgot to mention was, I added 1 lt of petrol b4 reaching your house... Yet the tank was empty on our way back...

Perfect Bad Day!

@ Inc

that was bcoz u were travelling at 10 km/hour... the petrol consumption would've been higher...

Actually, it was me and Kavin who took the dog to Blue Cross. Shy informed us. I took an auto and went to the station Parking lot. I informed KAvin and asked him to accompany me! He came there in bike. We used the same auto and took it to BC. There the doctor checked the poor dog! Kavin was inside! I didn't go, because it was really horrible to see the dog suffer! Finally, we decided to keep the dog that night there, and Took a bus to home! Kavin had to go back to the station and get his bike!
We spent around 100 , including money for the worker in BC! IT was a bad day even for ME!! :(
